The goal of the Oregon Management Internship (OMI) is to connect motivated and creative students from the ten member colleges and universities of the Oregon Independent College Foundation (OICF) with the Northwest business community for professional summer internship opportunities. The OICF member institutions include:
Collectively, the ten OICF colleges boast over 16,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students. Half these students call Oregon home and another 25% come from Washington or California.
There is a strong desire among businesses in the Northwest to retain top talent from area colleges and universities. Given the small size of the individual OICF colleges, attracting recruiters from some companies to these campuses can be a challenge. Thus the need and benefit for these colleges to collaborate in this area.
Recognizing the benefits of working together to place top students in internships and career opportunities throughout the region, the OICF launched a Career Task Force in April 2005. The Oregon Management Internship was an output of the Task Force.
By using a competitive selection process and functional area tracks that align with core business needs, top OICF college students will be available to private industry, nonprofits, and public sector agencies.
