You decided to
pursue a degree
at an Oregon
independent
college, what about
building a life and career here?

A professional experience via the Oregon Management Internship could be a stepping-stone to a challenging and satisfying career opportunity where you can build a life and make a difference in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

Optimally, undergraduate students complete an internship during the summer following their junior year. This allows the sponsoring company the opportunity to invite interns back during the senior year for part-time or seasonal work with the potential for another internship or full-time work after graduation. Graduate students are welcome to participate at any time during their academic experience.

PARTICIPATION IN THE OREGON MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP

Participation is open to full-time Juniors, Seniors, and graduate students (during 2007-08) who attend a member institution of the Oregon Independent College Foundation:

Concordia University
George Fox University
Lewis and Clark College
Linfield College
Marylhurst University
Pacific University
Reed College
University of Portland
Warner Pacific College
Willamette University

FUNCTIONAL AREA TRACKS

Students are arrayed around functional area tracks. That is, instead of being general interns, students are directed to specific areas of need within companies, such as human resources, marketing, customer service, foreign languages/international business, finance/accounting, creative services, PR/communications, Ecommerce, and other areas.

For the summer of 2008, the OMI is targeting the following professional tracks:

- Finance/Accounting
- Marketing and Communications
- Project Management
- Math and Sciences
- Human Resources

COMPENSATION

Final hiring decisions are left up to the organizations. All companies are strongly urged to pay students a competitive wage. In the past, undergraduate students have received a minimum of $10 per hour from their employer, working 40-hour weeks for a minimum of $4,000 for their internship experience. Graduate students have received a minimum of $14 per hour from their employer, working 40-hour weeks for a minimum of $5,600 for their internship experience.
