What if you could find a way to bring motivated and talented young people—
individuals who can think, communicate, write well, and problem solve—into your company
for a low risk, cost effective “summer test drive?”
What if those individuals went through an application and selection process to help cull
out top talent from ten of Oregon’s leading colleges and universities?
And what if you could specifically target students for key functional areas such as: human resources, marketing, customer service, foreign languages/international business, finance/accounting, creative services, PR/communications, or E-commerce, among others.
That’s exactly what the Oregon Management Internship will do. |

ABOUT THE OREGON MANAGEMENT INTERNSHIP |
The goal of the Oregon Management Internship is to connect motivated and creative students from the ten member colleges and universities of the Oregon Independent College Foundation (OICF) with the Northwest business community for professional summer internship opportunities. The OICF member institutions include:

Optimally, undergraduate students complete an internship during the summer following their junior year. This allows the sponsoring company the opportunity to invite interns back during the senior year for part-time or seasonal work with the potential for another internship or full-time work after graduation.
Graduate students with more advanced skills and experience are also available to sponsoring companies.
An internship via the Oregon Management Internship could also be a stepping-stone to a challenging and satisfying career opportunity where these young people can build a life and make a difference within your organization.

FUNCTIONAL AREA TRACKS |
Students are arrayed around functional area tracks. That is, instead of being general interns, students are directed to specific areas of need within companies, such as human resources, marketing, customer service, foreign languages/international business, finance/accounting, creative services, PR/communications, E-commerce, and other areas.
For the summer of 2008, the OMI is focusing on the following professional tracks:
|
- Finance/Accounting
- Marketing and Public Relations
- Project Management
- Math and Sciences
- Human Resources

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR —KEY TO SUCCESS |
There are three key areas that set the Oregon Management Internship above other programs: first is the process by which students are selected to participate. Second is the focus on professional tracks. Third is the two-day Professional Development Seminar to prepare students for their internship experience.
Tapping experts from various program tracks (i.e., human resources, marketing, foreign languages/international business, finance/accounting, etc.) students participate in a week of intense training about working in a professional setting, etiquette and attire, corporate governance, correspondence, and issues specific to their program track.
